Worship Sunday

Yesterday was Worship Sunday. Our whole service was praise and worship, along with communion.






During worship I shared a little with the church.
" 'Jerusalem will be a city without walls... And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,' declares the Lord, 'and I will be its glory within.... Shout and be glad O Daughter of Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,' declares the Lord." -Zechariah 2:4,5,10



1. There was a point in my life when I was making bad decisions.

• Bad decision with boyfriends, alcohol, smoking, my time, etc
• The guilt and shame from bad decisions, and the insecurity from rejection were just some of the stones I used to build a wall around myself.

2. We tend to build walls around ourselves to protect us and to put up a mask.

• We are just like Jerusalem.
• Each bad experience or hurtful situation is another stone in the wall.
• Fear, hurt, abandonment, rejection, guilt, betrayal, insecurity, anger, mistrust, etc.

3. Out walls don't protect; they cage in the issue, and lock God out.

• They actually hurt us more than what we are trying to hide from.
• Even if we think we have surrendered to God, there are often areas of our heart where our walls are still up.

4. It's time to tear down our walls and let God in to be the wall around us.

• He washes, He heals, and He gives true protection.
• Find something that has been a "stone" in your wall, and take it down today.

Before the service started, I set up a fountain and put a basket of rocks in front of it. I took a small stone and wrote "INSECURITY" on it to represent one of the "stones" in my wall and I put the stone in the fountain under the water, to represent God washing it away. I then invited others to do the same.

It was an incredible time of worship. When it was all over, I was excited to see all the stones in the fountain that represented "stones" in people's lives that they were laying down so that God could surround them with love and strength.

"The Lord washes away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgement and a spirit of fire. Then the Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy. It will be shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain." -Isaiah 4:5-6
