Out of the Mouths of Heathens

"I don't use racial slurs. They're silly. It's ridiculous to make fun of someone using their race/gender/nationality. You're making fun of something they have absolutely no control over, like who they were spawned by. If you really want to insult someone, make fun of something they have direct control over. Then you're focusing your insult directly at them as a person. That's why, if I want to insult someone, I make fun of what they said or something they did."

Recreated comment from a co-worker of mine. He's very nice, funny, worldly, a complete rocker, and--as yet--unsaved. It's an interesting perspective, though. He's right, don't ya think? The next time I want to insult someone, I'll remember his advice.

"But suppose God is black? What if we go to Heaven and we, all our lives, have treated the Negro as an inferior, and God is there, and we look up and He is not white? What then is our response?" -Robert F. Kennedy
