Freeze Warning

Freeze Warning?

Did you know that when it freezes in Florida, the whole state goes on a "Freeze Warning" and there is hour by hour--sometimes minute by minute--coverage of the winds, temperature, and humidity levels all night long? Even if the freeze snap is expected to only be an hour or so in the middle of the night.

And if you drive around your neighborhood that evening, you'll see sheets, blankets, curtains, and table clothes draped over bushes, shrubs, plants and small trees in an effort to keep them from getting frost bitten?

And... if you see people, they will be bundled up with parkas, gloves, hats, boots and scarfs. And local businesses die down to a slow trickle if it's cold outside (anything below 55 or 60) because people don't leave their houses to do business.

I'm sure it's primarily because of the crops... but also because we're all spoiled rotten with good, warm weather down here.
