Update

It's been four weeks now since our church, The Well, has closed and we began a period of rest. It's been really good. We've gone to the beach more, spent more time together, relaxed more, and slept more. We've visited a church once during the past four weeks, and we've spent time with God just because we wanted to, not because we needed to.

It's also been a bit of a challenge for me. My days are a bit less purposeful. More restful. It feels strange to glide through the days, week after week without a specific plan of action. Of course, God's larger plan and purpose for our lives hasn't changed. But I'm so used to being driven in purpose, that to sit and rest for a while feels quite strange. I imagine it's probably normal life for many people, but not for me.

So, in order to embrace the rest, I've been reading a lot. I'm on a Jane Austin kick. Yep... no leadership books or life-improvement, or spiritual revelation. Instead, it's Pride And Prejudice, Emma, and Sense And Sensibility. And I'm really enjoying it. :)

Hope,

Enjoy this time of rest. Jonathan and I went from being on leadership at The Well to leadership at another church and have been spending the last five months resting. We have visited churches...gone to small groups...spent time with God. It was a "weird" transition for us too, but it has been nice just "being" with God instead of having to be "doing" for God. The best part is watching God still use us in the day-to-day of life to touch others lives. It has been a great growing and learning experience for us...we feel like we are closer to Him and understand Him more during this time than any other time in our lives. :o)

Wow, that's so cool, Stacey. Good to hear. Times of rest really are so important.
