A Day In the Life Of A Potty Trainer

I. Do. Not. Like. Potty training.

So, I put Selah in her underwear this morning for a few hours and reminded her that we don't pee or poop in our underwear. She was fully aware of this rule.

Usually she goes about her business and--despite my constant asking if she needs to go potty--forgets and pees in her underwear. But, today she finally absorbed the concept that if she can go in the potty, then she gets two gummie bears.

So, after finally going the potty early this morning, we flushed, washed our hands, and consumed the gummie bears. Then she promptly said that she needed to go again. Which she did. After those two delicious gummie bears were devoured, she said she needed to go again! Which, to my surprise, she did--although it wasn't much. I had to go with her to help her every time, so this was starting to get time consuming. Then, five minutes later, she wanted to go again.

Twenty gummie bears later, it had become quite apparent that she had figured out how to play the game. Yep, she thought she was slick. Then I went to do something for a few minutes and I heard the potty flush. She came running out to me saying, "I did it! I pee, I wipe, I fush! I get two gummie bears!" So now she was doing it while I wasn't there to verify that the deed had been done. Hmmm...

So, I just decided to lock the bathroom door so that she had to let me know when she needs to go. I don't want her in there unattended...she may try to flush a toilet paper roll or something.

But now, brilliant me can't get the bathroom door unlocked.

Seriously? **Sigh**

Kenneth got it unlocked in two minutes... after I spent 15 minutes working on it. I'd like to think that I did all the work for him... but probably not.

You mean just like when we loosen the jar lid for them, so they can open it for us! :o)
